Who is the conference open to and how much will it cost?
• All Canadian high school students (including CEGEP) are invited to apply.
• Conference is targeted more towards grades 10 and up, but younger high school students are permitted to attend so long as they feel confident they will keep up. Teachers are also welcome
• Only students signing up and paying the $150 deposit by November 30, 2009 will be guaranteed a spot at the conference.
• The remaining $225 must be paid by January 15, 2010 for a total of $375 for the entire conference (all accomodations, meals, and actiivities included).

How much spending money should I give my child?
• While breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks will be provided every day for delegates, students may wish to bring additional money for extra snacks, or to purchase clothing or miscellaneous items from our campus bookstore.

Will students be supervised the entire time?
• Delegates will be assigned to a chaperone and placed into groups of 8-10
• Chaperones will supervise all day-time activities with students
• Security team will supervise delegates at night

Are the rooms co-ed?
• No, the rooms are single-sexed

Will any adults/chaperones be attending? Can they?
• Our highly qualified team of trained Chaperones will be supervising delegates at all times. While it is not necessary for schools to send teacher chaperones, you are welcome to do so.

What time is curfew?
• Curfew is 10:45 pm every night, and lights off no later than midnight on any night during the conference

Are there any bursaries available?
• We will not be able to provide travel bursaries this year but if our sponsorship drive is successful we will lower the final registration costs.

When is the application deadline?
• To sign up, students must complete the registration forms and mail it with the $150 deposit to the specified address by November 30, 2009.
• The remaining $225 must be paid by January 15, 2010.

When will I know if I have been selected to attend the conference?
• Delegates will typically be notified a week following our receipt of their applications.

• Yes. We will try our very best to accommodate every student. Please indicate these special needs on your application form and register as soon as possible so there is time for arrangements to be made.

Is there any “free” time to explore Kingston and the Queen’s Campus?
• Students will receive a campus tour of Queen’s and will explore various Kingston venues throughout the conference. However, there is no free time to explore due to tight scheduling restrictions

What topics will be covered?
• Students will be exposed to a wide variety of interesting topics surrounding the conference theme of biomedicine including but certainly not limited to: robotics, biochemistry (e.g. genetic characterization), Overarching themes of entrepeneurship and leadership will be found in all of the activities.

What time will the conference be over on Saturday?
• There are no activities planned for Saturday other than breakfast, which is optional, so you can leave anytime. However, our chaperones will finish work at noon so it would be best to leave before then.

Is it safe to leave my laptop in the residence room?
• The residence rooms have locking doors but you will be sharing with a roommate so we advise you to leave your valuables at home as we are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Is the final banquet and dance formal or semi-formal?
• The banquet and dance are semi-formal, so a shirt and tie is sufficient for the guys. However, anyone who wants to dress formally is certainly welcome to do so.

What should I bring?
• Here are some suggestions:
o enough clothes for 4 days
o toiletries (no soap/shampoo/towels etc. are provided)
o any necessary medications
o travel documents, government ID and health card
o cash for snacks and optional spending during free time
o warm clothes/rain jacket for ferry ride
o semi-formal/formal clothes for final banquet
o athletic shoes and clothing for physical activities

What is the dress code for conference activities?
• Casual clothes is fine for all conference activities other than the final banquet, but keep in mind that the speakers we have prepared for you are accomplished and distinguished individuals and they deserve your respect.

Will there be internet access in residence?
• Unfortunately wireless access is not available in the residences and the Queen's wireless network is available to Queen's students only. Public computers will be available if necessary, but not for recreational use (we're going to be busy!).

Will we be able to choose our roommates?
• Conference Services (the Queen's University committee that handles campus room bookings) has made the room assignments for us and we cannot change them at this time. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Are the bathrooms in residence private or shared by the floor?
• Bathrooms will be shared by the whole floor, but all floors are single-sexed.

Will we have access to a refrigerator in residence?
• Since we can't guarantee that there will be refrigerator space available, we recommend that you leave your refrigerated snacks at home. The Queen's cafeterias carry a wide variety of food and drinks so you shouldn't need to bring anything extra.

What night is the dance?
• The dance will be held after the banquet on May 16, the last night of the conference. The attire is semi-formal.

How do you find the registration desk once you get to Queen's campus?
• Sign-in will be at the front entrance of Victoria Hall, which is located at 75 Bader Lane. A full campus map is available through the university.
