Meet our AWESOME NTYLC 2010 executive team!
No, seriously, AWESOME.
And thus, we present to you...

EVAN COLE Co-Chair
Hi, my name is Evan and I'm one of the co-chairs for this year's NTYLC! I'm a second year Life Sciences student, and player on the Queen's varsity men's Ultimate (Frisbee) team. In the summers I work in an immunology and genetics laboratory at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute in Mt. Sinai Hospital (Toronto). My most recent research focused on genetic pathways related to T-cell signaling in Primary Biliary Cirrhosis. My interests include playing just about every sport, camping, and playing the piano. I'm really looking forward to this year's NTYLC, and I know it'll be four days you'll never forget!
KATRYNA KERR Co-Chair
Katryna is a fourth year Honors Biology Student. She is originally from Minnesota and has spent two years in Switzerland. This is her third year participating in NTYLC. She started as a chaperone for NTYLC and has risen to being a co-chair. She loves music, and enjoys playing the piano when she is home. She also enjoys spending time with her two dogs. She can’t wait to meet everyone!
CATHERINE HE Graphics/Technical Executive
Representing the West Coast: Welcome everyone! I come from Vancouver (Delta actually) British Columbia, and currently, I'm in my second year of Life Sciences here at Queen's University. In my free time I am most likely watching movies, goofing off with my housemates, or eating. It's awesome to be putting together this unique conference and being part of such a spectacular team. I can't wait to meet this year's crop of bright and motivated students! (Laying it on a bit too thick? I think not!)
ALEX MAYER Social executive
Alex is a 4th year Health Studies major at Queen’s. When he isn’t working on his thesis, he is usually found writing songs in his home studio, road cycling, learning Spanish, or losing staring contests to his unsuspecting, month-old nephew.
NORA ROCHMAN Workshop Coordinator
Hi everyone! My name is Nora Rochman and I am from Toronto, Ontario. This is my 3rd year attending Queen's University where I am working towards a science degree in biology and a minor in heath studies. In my spare time I love to dance (especially ballet!) and play rugby. I also love windsurfing, canoeing, and sailing, which I get to spend my summers doing in Algonquin Park.
FLORA SHAN Sponsorship Executive
Hi everyone! I’m a first year student from Toronto studying science here at Queen’s. I enjoy playing the piano, shopping for clothes, and travelling in my spare time. Interesting Fact: Aside from my family, the thing I miss most after coming to university is not being able to use baking as an excuse to avoid studying. I love meeting new people and I can’t wait to meet the delegates of NTYLC 2010!
SUCHETA SHANKAR Delegate Executive
Sucheta is currently a second year student in Biology at Queen's. Aside from juggling academics, extracurricular and work, Sucheta spends whatever little time is left sketching and reading novels. This is Sucheta's second year being a part of NTYLC and she is highly excited and enthusiastic to help be a part of this conference again. She can't wait to see this conference actually take place and is excited to meet the new delegates for this year!
HAO SHI Speaker Coordinator
Hey! This is Hao Shi! I am currently studying Life Sciences at Queen’s University. I love science, but if there is anything you should know about me, it’s that I am the biggest badminton addict ever. If I made a pie chart of my life, badminton would take up about 50% of the circle. I am a Shad (I’m sure some people know what that means), and I had the chance to work at Canada’s top nuclear research center last summer. I swear… the medical isotopes crisis was not my fault! Anyways, I’ll do my best to make NTYLC 2010 the best year ever, and I hope to see you in May!
BABS STERNICZUK Social Executive
Hello future delegates! I, myself, was once one of you, as I attended the National Technology Youth Leadership Conference just two short years ago, and I had a blast! I am now a second year Life Sciences student at Queen’s University, also focusing on a minor in French Studies. When I’m not at school or making your NTYLC social events outrageously amazing, I’m a devout member of the Queen’s Tae Kwon Do Club, where I currently hold a blue belt. I love skiing, and playing foosball, of course. I am very interested in pursuing a career in the field of Medicine, and with our theme of Biomedicine this year we’ll have plenty to chat about! I can’t wait to meet you all!
AMY ZHANG Sponsorship Executive
I am currently a first year Science student at Queen's University. I was born in Shanghai, but was raised in Toronto at a young age. My favourite courses include Philosophy and Biology. I am planning to pursue a career in public health management or in pharmaceuticals.
